POTOMAC RIVER SPORT FISHING LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

I.        If you are fishing from a BOAT in the Potomac River:

Below the 301 Bridge - you are required to have one of the following:

1. Potomac River Fisheries Sport Fishing License, or

2. Virginia Saltwater Recreational License, or

3. Maryland Bay (Tidal) Sport Fishing License.

Above the 301 Bridge - you are required to have one of the following:

1. Potomac River Fisheries Sport Fishing License, or

2. Virginia Saltwater Recreational License, or

3. Maryland Bay (Tidal) Sport Fishing License, or

4. Virginia Statewide Freshwater Fishing License.

Above the Woodrow Wilson Bridge - you are required to have:

1. District of Columbia fishing License.

II.       Potomac River Fisheries Sport Fishing Licenses are also valid in:

1. All Maryland tidal waters, and

2. All Virginia tidal salt waters, and

3. All Virginia tidal freshwater tributaries of the Potomac River downstream of points designated by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.

III.      A Potomac River sport fishing license is not required if you:

1. Are 65 years of age or older.

2. Are less than 16 years of age.

3. Are fishing from the Potomac shore or a pier.

4. Are fishing during the three days before, the holiday itself, and the three days after Memorial Day, July 4^th and Labor Day.

5. Are fishing on any other Federal holiday.

6. Hold a valid tidal/saltwater sport fishing license or are fishing from a boat holding a valid license or are fishing from a boat holding a valid license issued by another political jurisdiction granting reciprocal privileges with this Commission.
